South Canterbury 10 's Boys- Shows Team the winning way


The 10s and 12s annual Southern teams event kicked off today in Invercargill.Weather was no problem for the South Canterbury Vs Southland fixture as it was played Indoors at Stadium Southland.A closely fought contest was expected and it proved to be just that.The 10s boys won all singles rubbers ( pictured are left to right, Jack Deeley ,Jono Ellis,Chris Hogg -Back ,Front-Ben Deeley and Harrison Darling).Playing in their first rep fixture the Deeley brothers both won hard fought singles ties,Jack 9-6 and Ben 9-8.Chris Hogg and Harrison Darling won a vital doubles coming from 8-4 down to clinch the match 9-8 in a tie break .Amelia Race scored the girls only victory in her match 9-1 but that win meant overall South Canterbury defeated Southland 7-5.The 12s had similar results with the boys winning 6-0 Winning all singles and doubles matches, Annabel Ellis scored a win in the Girls Singles against Laura Overton and Gabby Lee and Charlotte Lamb both went down in third set super tie breaks.Gabby Lee and Gretchen Bleeker had a convincing win in the doubles helping South Canterbury defeat SouthLand 8-4 in the overall 12s match.To-morrow morning South Canterbury take on Otago.
